What I do

Six ways I help organizations
actually ship.

Every engagement is shaped to your context — but the work tends to fall into one of these. Each one is built on a 30-year track record and the same operating principle: analysis to action, with no gap.

01.

AI Training & Enablement

Your team stops asking "what's a prompt?" and starts shipping with AI in 30 days. Customized programs that translate hype into operational fluency — across roles, disciplines, and risk tolerances.

For L&D leaders Faculty Knowledge workers

02.

Course & Program Design

From concept to launch. Competency models, assessment architecture, accreditation alignment, instructor enablement. The same playbook that built 35+ programs and 350+ courses at WGU, Touro, Visa, and UC Berkeley.

For Universities EdTech Corporate academies

03.

Assessment & Accreditation

Accreditation-ready evidence packages that survive scrutiny. Volunteer evaluator with ACCSC, ACE, MSCHE, and ABET — I know what auditors look for because I've been on both sides of the table.

For Provosts Deans Compliance officers

04.

EdTech & AI Strategy

Stop buying tools that gather dust. I help leadership teams pick, sequence, and govern the technologies that actually move the needle — including AI ethics frameworks for institutional adoption.

For CIOs · CAOs Boards AI councils

05.

Executive Briefings & Workshops

High-impact sessions on AI, data ethics, and digital transformation for leadership teams. Recent keynotes: AI4 2025 (Las Vegas), Grand Canyon University, Cayuse Connect, Training Industry.

For Boards C-suites Conferences

06.

Data-Driven Decision Support

Analytics and visualization that make strategic planning legible. Patent-holder in statistical output modulation. NSF grantee. I make the data tell a story you can actually act on.

How I work

Three steps. No theatrics.

  1. 1.

    Discovery

Three questions answered before anything else: What's the objective? Why now? What's the most efficient path? If we can't answer these, we're not ready to start — and I'll tell you that.

  2. 2.

    Plan

Logical, effective plans grounded in facts and reality — not aspiration. Every practical step identified. You'll see exactly what gets done, by whom, and when. Timelines force closure; closure forces value.

  3. 3.

    Ship

Analysis to action with essentially zero gap. I think and act simultaneously — it's the operating model that lets one person do the work of a team. Velocity is the whole point.

How I work

Analysis to action,
without the gap.

Most consulting stops at the deck. I keep going. Four phases, run in tight loops, until the work ships and the metric moves.

  1. 01

    Diagnose

Listen first. Map the real gap between where you are and where you need to be — from the people doing the work, not just the people approving the budget.

  2. 02

    Design

Build the operating plan. Milestones tied to outcomes that matter, not deliverables that feel productive.

  3. 03

    Deliver

Ship in increments. Working curriculum, assessments, governance — every week, not at the end of the engagement.

  4. 04

    Measure

Track real signals — adoption, completion, outcomes. Iterate on data, not opinion. Hand off something the team can run without me.

About

The Architect.

Builder. Teacher. Maker. Architect of things that did not exist before.

I came to artificial intelligence in the mid-1990s, when it was an academic backwater most computer scientists treated as a curiosity. I did not pivot when the market told me to. I was already there, doing the work, when nobody was paying attention.

I think and act simultaneously. Before proceeding I need three questions answered: What is the objective? Why are we doing this? What is the most efficient way of doing this? Once those are answered, there is no stopping me.

Direct AND warm. Rigorous AND fast. Prolific AND deep. The contradictions aren't a problem — they're how the work gets shipped.

Hosted Cognition

How AI platforms are privatizing the conditions of human judgment.

Twelve chapters, five parts, twelve cases — from a coding agent that deletes a production database to the institutions still missing the categories needed to govern any of it. An interactive outline, with the Introduction and Chapter 1 available to read now.

The Trilogy

The Art of Human-Centered AI

Three books, one argument: that the craft of working with AI — prompting, context, and now agents — is fundamentally a human-centered discipline.

I also write a personal essay series — The Art of Living Large — four volumes on life, taste, and not apologizing for any of it.
